Interpretation Center of the Wall

"The Center for Interpretation of the Wall is located in Piazza del Campo in the historic city center. Medianeira is a building between the ground floor and two floors below deck, whose origins date back to construction in the early eighteenth century . On the ground floor is the reception area and space to accommodate the visitors.

Interpretation Center of the WallOn the first floor, the central issue is the building of the Roman wall, their characteristics and effects construtivas that its construction had on the urbanism of Lucus Augusti. As sub-themes are the source of the city, its evolution in the Roman era and the legacy assets that the rule was in Lugo. From that first walk the visitor can start his knowledge of the wall across multiple devices: panels, audio-visual, tactile and interactive tables, etc...
Interpretation Center of the Wall
The second area covers the changes that affected the wall and the reasons that motivated them, with them changing the wall, but also the city. Here we present the changes of the wall from the Middle Ages even the contemporary age and the relationship between these changes and the vicissitudes of urban growth, social, political and economic aspects of the city. This describes the consolidation of the city as civitas episcopalis, the importance of the houses close to the wall, and presents the ten gates of the wall in the context of changes in the city urban.

Interpretation Center of the WallThe emphasis here is on what sets the wall as a World Heritage Site, covers the controversy generated around the need to preserve or collapse, its multiple uses, visitors relive the events over the ownership and responsibility for its conservation and above all, ensures that you feel the wall not only as a monument but as a symbol of humanity."
