Once one has seen and walked along the path on the
Roman Wall, the inquisitive visitor should be aware of the fact that Roman Lugo has more to show than this fortress. Under the present-day city, the ancient and hidden
Lucus Augusti. The great amount of archeological remains (the public square, roads, baths, temples, cemeteries, aqueducts, etc.) that have been found so far bear witness to the great Roman city it once was.

Roman bridge. over the river. Fourteen kilometres away from Lugo one can see the mysterious tardoroman santuary of
Santa Eulalia de Bóveda, and the
Viladonga Archaeological Site, 20 kilometres away, on the road to Meira, is an important fortress village that was at its zenith in Roman times.
