At the end of 2000, UNESCO officially listed Lugo’s Wall as a World Heritage Site.
This fortress is more than two kilometres long. With its 85 mighty towers, it is the only Roman Wall in the world to have kept its entire perimeter intact. The Wall, which surrounds the old quarter, has a pedestrian path on top, 12 metres above ground level, that is now used for pedestrian walks. Day-time offers the best viewpoint over the old quarter; at night, it is a charming poetic stroll, thanks to the soft lighting.
The visitor to Lugo will also enjoy the important Roman heritage sites, such as the archeological remains sheltered in the House of the Mosaics, the Provincial Museum, theInterpretation Center of the Wall, the Porta Miñá Museum, the Roman Spa and the Chapel of Santa Eulalia de Bóveda. The cathedral, where the Holy Eucharist can be contemplated day and night, is also a must;.
